Compliance
How the award engine works
Understanding Mustr's compliance engine
Mustr uses a deterministic award engine. The same inputs always produce the same outputs — no estimates, no drift. Every calculation produces a step-by-step audit trail.
What the engine does
- Looks up the correct base rate for the employee's award and classification level
- Applies casual loading if applicable (typically 25%)
- Calculates penalty rates based on day of week, time of day, and public holidays
- Handles midnight boundary splitting (shifts that cross midnight)
- Calculates superannuation on ordinary time earnings
- Produces a complete audit trail documenting every step
Supported awards
SCHADS / NDIS (MA000100) is our depth focus — sleepovers, broken shifts, 2-up shifts, casual loading and public holiday stacking are interpreted clause by clause. Other Modern Awards (Aged Care, Hospitality, Retail, Construction and others) have scaffolding in the engine and are rolled out alongside paying customers in those industries.
Audit trail
Every pay calculation records: employee details, base rate lookup, loading application, penalty calculation, break deductions, allowances, gross total, and super. This trail is producible for Fair Work inspection within 72 hours.
