Only pay for active employee records
Most competitors charge per seat - you pay for every employee record, even terminated staff. Mustr charges per active employee: inactive and terminated records do not count.
With Mustr (active-employee billing)
A cafe with 15 casual records:
You pay: 8 × A$9 = A$72/mo
With seat-based pricing (competitors)
Same cafe, same 15 casuals:
They pay: 18 × A$18 = A$324/mo

Frequently Asked Questions
What counts as an active employee?
Employees with status 'Active' count towards your bill. Terminated, inactive, or archived employees are free.
How does active-employee billing save me money?
If you keep 8 staff active and archive 7 seasonal casuals between busy periods, you pay for 8. Competitors charge per seat - meaning you can pay for inactive and terminated records still on the system.
How do the volume bands work at the boundaries?
The whole active team is billed at the rate for the band you land in — not a per-employee tier. So 10 active employees pays 10 × A$9 = A$90. Add an 11th and the entire team steps down to A$8: 11 × A$8 = A$88 (yes, you save money by adding a head at the boundary). Same logic at 50 → 51 (steps to A$7) and 200 → 201 (steps to A$6).
Can I change billing cadence?
Yes. Pilot subscriptions can be billed monthly or annually once billing is enabled. Pricing remains volume-based and GST inclusive.
Is Australian compliance included in every plan?
Yes. The Mustr plan includes Fair Work compliance features including award interpretation, right to disconnect enforcement, casual conversion tracking, and 7-year record keeping. No add-on fees.
What Modern Awards are supported?
SCHADS (MA000100) is our depth focus today — sleepovers, broken shifts, 2-up shifts and public holiday stacking interpreted deterministically with a full audit trail. The compliance engine has scaffolding for additional Modern Awards (Aged Care, Hospitality, Retail, Construction and others); these are early access and rolled out alongside paying customers in those industries.
How does Mustr compare to Deputy on price?
Deputy's headline price starts at ~A$7/user/month, but most businesses need scheduling + time & attendance + HR, which totals A$18-23/user/month. Mustr includes all of that for A$6-9/active employee/month depending on team size.
Where is my data stored?
Customer data at rest is stored in the Sydney region. We are committed to Australian data sovereignty. See the Trust Centre for the full subprocessor list.
How does private pilot access work?
We onboard first-wave customers directly, help map awards and payroll exports, then convert the workspace to paid billing when both sides are ready.
Is there a setup or implementation fee?
No standard setup fee for pilot customers. Larger custom award onboarding and FWO audit readiness reviews are paid services, not required setup fees.
What about the Founding 50 program?
Our first 50 customers get 30% off for 12 months. In exchange: quarterly feedback, a testimonial at 90 days, and one referral. That brings a 15-employee team from A$8/user/mo to A$5.60/user/mo for the first year.
Do you charge GST?
All displayed prices are GST inclusive. Your tax invoice will show the GST component separately.
